Benchmarking hospital preparedness.
CHALLENGE:
To rapidly gauge a medical facility's preparedness and response capabilities.
SOLUTION:
The Hospital Self-Assessment Tool is an interactive, on-line questionnaire designed to allow hospital emergency departments to assess their level of preparedness for the evaluation and treatment of casualties due to a biological or chemical event from a policy perspective. The brief evaluation consists of fourteen questions and answers. Recommendations and guidance points are provided throughout the survey to provide reference materials and resources for users that would like to view more information on topics such as: decontamination procedures, inter-agency coordination, and triage for complex medical emergencies. The survey allows institutions to benchmark preparedness and progress based upon a validated tool.
POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS:
Hospitals and health care institutions can use the HSAT on a periodic basis to evaluate/reevaluate their level of preparedness.
